Hmmm..., where to start? My name is Tammy and I live in Casselberry, FL along with my husband Jim and son Michael. In 2002, I was laid off after 14yrs of service and said to myself now what am I going to do?? In 2003, I was searching ebay and came across Lampworked beads. I thought what is this....these beads are gorgeous!! How are they made? I had to know!! After doing some research on the internet and buying books, I was learning more about lampwork beads. I have always enjoyed arts and crafts.
I started buying the beads from the most talented artists on ebay and making jewelry. That's when I became addicted!! I knew I had to learn how to make them myself. So in late 2003 I found a local bead shop that had classes, (Flametree Glass, they have since moved to GA) took a beginners class and was hooked. I bought Cindy Jenkins book "Making Glass Beads" some glass rods, hot head, tools and a few supplies and I was off. I then decided that I wanted to learn more. I found out that Corina Tettinger was going to teach at Flametree and signed up for her 2 day class. I also bought her book "Passing the Flame" and it has been very helpful. Through lots of patience, practice and more practice I have finally found something that I enjoy doing!!
And that's it...that is how I got started. I try and make beads every chance I get!!
Below is a picture of the class with Corina. I'm third from left (closest to the bunny ears). That's Amaya giving Becky "bunny ears".
